3 Key Questions & Answers

1.WHAT are we called to do as a church? It is clear from the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:18-20, that the purpose of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

2.WHY should we make disciples? The motivation for making disciples is love, which is the Greatest Commandment according to Jesus in Matthew 22:36-40. Because we love God and our fellow man, we want to help people mirror Christ in the way they live and love.

3.HOW will we make disciples who live and love like Jesus Christ? That’s where the 4 G’s of Discipleship come in, which is our strategy. See below for details…

First, GLORIFY God through the Sunday morning worship service.
  • Psalm 29:2, “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.”
  • Ephesians 1:3-6, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

Second, GROW in your relationship with God and others through small group Bible study.
  • Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
  • Romans 8:29, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”

Third, GIVE of yourself in one of our weekly ministry opportunities.
  • Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
  • 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Fourth, GO into your world to share the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
  • John 20:21, “Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
  • Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
